Terms of Use
Effective 19 August 2026 · SpeedGuard
These terms govern your use of the SpeedGuard iOS app and the camera pack API at api.speedguardapp.com. By downloading or using SpeedGuard, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
The service
SpeedGuard provides speed-camera alerts using OpenStreetMap data and your device’s GPS. It is a driver aid, not a replacement for posted signs, police instruction, or safe driving.
No guarantee against tickets
Camera locations, speed limits, and coverage can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. SpeedGuard does not guarantee that you will be warned in time, or at all. You remain responsible for your speed and for following the law.
License to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use SpeedGuard on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store terms. You may not reverse engineer, scrape our API in an abusive way, or redistribute camera packs except as permitted by the OpenStreetMap license.
OpenStreetMap data
Camera packs include data © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under ODbL. If you use that data outside SpeedGuard, you must follow OSM copyright and license terms.
Subscriptions and lifetime access
- New installs include a 10-day demo with full Pro features on this device. The demo is not an App Store subscription trial.
- After the demo ends, continued use requires SpeedGuard Pro: an auto-renewing Apple subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.
- Prices are shown in the app from the App Store and charged by Apple to your Apple ID.
- The yearly plan may include a 3-day free trial through the App Store if you are eligible. Eligibility is determined by Apple. Starting that trial after the demo is a new subscription, billed when the 3 days end unless you cancel.
- A subscription renews unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period in Apple ID settings. Deleting the app or on-device data does not cancel a subscription.
- If you start a paid plan during a free trial, unused trial time is forfeited as described by Apple.
- Lifetime access is a non-consumable In-App Purchase. It does not expire, but we may change or discontinue features.
Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies: apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula.
Acceptable use
Do not use SpeedGuard to interfere with others, overload our API, or operate a vehicle in a way that is illegal or unsafe. Do not look at the screen when it would distract you from driving.
Availability
We may change, suspend, or stop parts of the service, including country packs. We are not liable for downtime, missing countries, or failed downloads.
Disclaimer
SpeedGuard is provided “as is”. To the extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, merchantability, and fitness for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for fines, accidents, lost profits, or other damages arising from use of SpeedGuard or from missing or incorrect camera data. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how location and other information is handled.
Changes
We may update these terms. The effective date will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms.
