Privacy Policy

This policy describes how the SpeedGuard iOS app (“SpeedGuard”, “we”) handles information. We built SpeedGuard so that driving data stays on your device whenever possible.

Who we are

SpeedGuard is published as an iOS app with camera packs hosted at api.speedguardapp.com. Contact: hello@speedguardapp.com.

Information we process

• Location. SpeedGuard uses GPS during an active drive to estimate speed, heading, and distance to nearby cameras. Location is processed on your iPhone. We do not require an account, and we do not operate a user profile that stores your trip history on our servers.
• Country detection. To pick a camera pack, the app may send your current coordinates to Apple’s reverse-geocoding service (CLGeocoder). We do not receive that coordinate from Apple; we only use the country code returned on the device.
• Background location. During the 10-day demo and after you subscribe to Pro, iOS may deliver location updates while the screen is locked if you start a trip and allow Always. You can stop this by ending the trip or disabling background detection.
• Camera packs. When you download a country pack, your device requests pack metadata and camera coordinates from our API. We receive the country code, IP address, and standard server logs needed to operate the service. Packs contain OpenStreetMap camera locations, not your location history.
• Purchases. Subscriptions and lifetime access are processed by Apple. We do not receive your full Apple ID, payment card, or billing address. Apple tells the app whether Pro is active.
• Device settings. Alert distance, voice, and similar preferences stay in on-device storage (UserDefaults / app files). The 10-day demo start date is stored in the Keychain on this device so reinstalling the app does not restart the demo.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not use your location to show third-party advertising.
• We do not require you to create a SpeedGuard account.

Our servers and Cloudflare

API requests go through Cloudflare to our hosting provider. Cloudflare and the host may see IP address, time, URL, and user agent as part of delivering HTTPS and blocking abuse. We use this to keep the API available, not to build a marketing profile.

Apple services

If you use Apple Watch, Live Activities, In-App Purchases, or country detection, Apple processes related data under Apple’s privacy policy (including reverse geocoding). We do not control Apple’s systems.

Map data

Camera locations come from OpenStreetMap contributors and are used under the Open Database License (ODbL). See openstreetmap.org/copyright.

Children

SpeedGuard is a driving utility and is not directed at children under 13.

Your choices

• Deny or later revoke location permission in iOS Settings.
• Delete downloaded camera packs in the app.
• Delete trips, settings, packs, and logs from Settings → Delete. This does not cancel an Apple subscription or reset the 10-day demo.
• Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID subscriptions.
• Delete the app to remove remaining on-device trip and preference data. The demo start date in Keychain may remain on this device.

Retention

We do not keep a personal trip database on our servers. Server logs are rotated and kept only as long as needed for operations and security. Apple retains purchase records according to Apple’s policies.

Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of SpeedGuard after an update means you accept the revised policy.
